In depth: environmental issues
This page displays documents that address environmental issues at Point Molate Park. Currently, the Department of Public Works at the City of Richmond is proposing to install riprap (revetment) boulders over about one third of the beach at the Point Molate Beach Park. This practice is environmentally damaging, not only because such armoring causes narrowing and eventual loss of the beach, but because habitat and biological diversity are lost along with the beach and the eelgrass offshore. Please see the documents below for more details about the project and its effects. In addition, several other documents from agencies such as the City of Richmond and the Water Board are listed with a sentence or two about their content.
